Cannonball Creek Antiques - Professional Appraisals
Appraisals might be conducted for the following purposes:
Client Purchase and Sale
Insurance
Equitable Distribution
Charitable Donation
Estates
The first question is always what the purpose of the appraisal is. This will determine the value conclusion that needs to be researched. This also affects the scope of work or time involved in market and value research and report writing. Once the terms are agreed upon, an appraisal contract can be signed.
The steps to a typical appraisal are as follows:
An initial on-site inspection must be conducted. During the inspection a hand written description of each item will be accomplished and pictures will be take of each item. Any information the client has about the item being appraised is very important and will be collected. Important information could be old receipts, appraisals and family provenance including letters and old photos. After the necessary research is done, the values are assigned and the descriptions are finalized. Typically the report is completed and returned to you within ten days of the inspection; more time is needed for estates and large collections. Upon completion of the report an invoice for time spent writing the report and conducting the research as well as the assigned value is mailed to you. Once payment has been received your copy of the appraisal report is delivered.
Please contact me for references and pricing. I will email you back promptly. I may agree to do an online appraisal in certain circumstances, and may ask for a picture of the item.
